Bequia Carnival 2026 has expanded its programme with the addition of two new events following an EC$5,000 sponsorship from Unicomer Courts St Vincent Ltd.
In addition to staple events such as Miss Bequia, Kiddies Carnival, Momentum, J’Ouvert, Wet Fete and Monday T-shirt band activities, patrons can now look forward to Luxe After Dark: De Night Mas Experience and Sunset Soirée.
The donation was presented to the Bequia Carnival Committee on May 19, 2026, ahead of the carnival’s official launch, which was held on May 25 under the theme “De Spirit of Bacchanal Fever”.
President of the Bequia Carnival Committee, Dorcel John, said the sponsorship has helped elevate this year’s carnival experience by transforming it into more than just a series of events.
“Luxe After Dark and Sunset Soirée help elevate our carnival by transforming it from just a series of events into a premium experience,” John said. “It adds exclusivity, excitement, and value that people now expect from modern carnival culture.”
John also expressed appreciation for the partnership, noting that the contribution represents more than financial assistance.
“This sponsorship from Courts represents more than financial support. It is an investment in the growth, unity and future of the Bequia community. We are deeply grateful for their partnership and belief in our vision,” she said.
She added that the sponsorship strengthens the committee’s ability to deliver a meaningful experience for residents and visitors alike, while encouraging greater community pride, collaboration, and opportunity across the island.
Marketing Officer at Unicomer Courts St Vincent Ltd, Lisa Veira, said the company remains committed to supporting the communities it serves.
“Courts is invested in the people and communities it serves, not just sales. Supporting cultural events demonstrates our partnership to national festivities and celebration,” Veira said.
Bequia Carnival, which has been celebrated for more than 50 years, remains one of the island’s major cultural festivities, bringing together residents and visitors through music, pageantry and street celebrations.
The annual festivities traditionally feature events such as Miss Bequia, Kiddies Carnival, Momentum, J’Ouvert, Wet Fete, and Monday T-shirt band activities, all of which form part of the island’s vibrant carnival culture. With the addition of Luxe After Dark: De Night Mas Experience and Sunset Soirée, organisers are hoping to further elevate the overall carnival experience while preserving the spirit and energy that have defined Bequia Carnival for decades.
