Farmer charged with Attempted Murder after allegedly chopping 13-year-old student in head with cutlass

Police say that on December 8, 2024, they arrested and charged Shelton Hooper, a 35-year-old Farmer of Petit Bordel, with the offence of Attempted Murder.
In a December 10 press release, the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said: “Investigations revealed that on December 1, 2024, in Petit Bordel, the accused, Shelton Hooper, committed an act which was more than merely preparatory to the commission of the offence of murder by chopping a 13-year-old student on the head with a cutlass”.
Hooper appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate Court on December 9, 2024, where he was arraigned.
He was granted bail in the sum of $25,000.00. ECC with one surety.
The defendant was ordered not to have any contact with the complainant and to report to the Chateaubelair Police Station every Monday and Thursday between 6am and 6pm.
He was also instructed to surrender all travel documents and stop notices placed at all port of entries.
The matter was adjourned and transferred to the Serious Offences Court for January 9, 2025.
