NASCAR Driver Rajah Caruth to Bring Hollywood Star Marsai Martin on SVG Homecoming

St. Vincent and the Grenadines is set to welcome international attention next week as professional NASCAR driver and the country’s Sporting Ambassador, Rajah Caruth, returns to his Vincentian roots accompanied by acclaimed Hollywood actress Marsai Martin.

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA) has announced that Caruth will make an official homecoming visit from August 12 to 16, with a series of public engagements aimed at celebrating his achievements, inspiring young Vincentians and promoting the destination to regional and international audiences.

According to the Tourism Authority, Caruth will be accompanied by his girlfriend, Caila Martin, known professionally as Marsai Martin, best known for her role in the award-winning television series Black-ish. Martin is expected to experience St. Vincent and the Grenadines during the visit while joining Caruth for several official activities.

The homecoming will begin on Wednesday, August 12, when Caruth is scheduled to arrive at Argyle International Airport, where he will receive an official VIP welcome. A media conference will follow in the airport’s VIP Lounge before he joins a ceremonial motorcade with members of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Race Car Association to Barrouallie, the hometown of his mother and a community closely tied to his Vincentian heritage.

Residents of Barrouallie are expected to host a community street celebration featuring cultural performances, live entertainment, music and opportunities for supporters to welcome one of the country’s most recognised sporting ambassadors.

Caruth will also headline a youth symposium at Peace Memorial Hall in Kingstown on Thursday, August 13, beginning at 10 a.m. The event is expected to attract students, aspiring athletes, young professionals and motorsport enthusiasts eager to hear about his journey from aspiring racer to one of NASCAR’s rising stars.

Drawing on his experiences in professional motorsport, Caruth is expected to speak on discipline, resilience, education, perseverance and creating opportunities through hard work and determination.

Throughout the visit, he will also participate in radio and digital media interviews reflecting on his Vincentian roots while encouraging members of the diaspora and international travellers to experience St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Tourism Authority said regional broadcaster TEMPO Networks will document the homecoming, providing coverage that showcases the country’s culture, heritage and tourism experiences across the Caribbean and other international markets.

Chief Executive Officer of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority, Shafia London, said the visit represents an opportunity to celebrate both Caruth’s accomplishments and his connection to his ancestral home.

“Rajah Caruth’s homecoming is about much more than celebrating an accomplished athlete. It is an opportunity to celebrate a proud Vincentian whose story demonstrates what is possible through hard work, dedication and belief,” London said.

She added that his journey is expected to inspire Vincentians at home and abroad while providing another platform to promote the country’s culture, hospitality, and tourism product.

The Tourism Authority has invited the public to participate in the homecoming celebrations and has also encouraged those wishing to attend the youth symposium to register in advance.

Media organisations have been invited to cover both the official airport welcome and the symposium, with shuttle transportation being arranged for journalists covering the Barrouallie celebrations.
