Officer Kenrick Scott Died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound

The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) says its investigation into the death of Police Constable Kenrick Scott has concluded that the fatal gunshot wound he sustained was self-inflicted.

In an update issued on Wednesday, the police said the conclusion was reached following a post-mortem examination, a review of the circumstances surrounding the incident, and statements obtained from witnesses.

According to the RSVGPF, Constable Scott, badge number 1116, was involved in an incident at approximately 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Police said a post-mortem examination conducted on Monday, July 27, established that the officer died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators subsequently reviewed the medical findings alongside the available evidence and witness accounts before determining that the fatal injury was self-inflicted.

The police force acknowledged the sensitive nature of the case and appealed to the public to respect the privacy of Constable Scott’s family during what it described as an extremely difficult time.

Commissioner of Police and the wider membership of the RSVGPF also renewed their condolences to the officer’s family, friends and colleagues.

The force did not release any additional details about the circumstances of the incident.

One News SVG was able to confirm that Scott was on a phone call with relatives when he shot himself.

According to reports, they were trying to talk him out of doing the act.
