In reaffirming its stance of zero tolerance towards police misconduct, the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has launched an investigation into officers involved in a public incident that was recorded on video and subsequently went viral.
The exact date of the incident remains unclear. However, the RSVGPF stated in a release dated 2 July that it “unequivocally condemns the inappropriate actions of two police officers captured in a video circulating on social media.”
According to the police, the footage depicts an incident involving the apprehension of a suspect near PeppaKorn Supermarket in Kingstown.
It is not clear at this time why incident occurred a and why the officers were trying to apprehend the civilian.
“Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr Envill Williams, has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the matter. The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this inquiry,” the release stated.
The RSVGPF emphasised its steadfast commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. It added that any deviation from these standards is taken seriously and addressed promptly.
“We extend our gratitude to the public for their continued support and cooperation,” the statement concluded.
