A 49-year-old Langley Park man has become the country’s 21st homicide victim of the year after he was found with apparent gunshot wounds in the Mount Young area on Wednesday.
Police identified the deceased as Gayron “Gale” Jackson, of Bay Road, Langley Park.
According to investigators, Jackson was reportedly on his way into the mountains to purchase coconuts when he was attacked by unknown assailants. Police have corroborated reports that the shooting occurred around midday while he was travelling to conduct the business transaction.
Officers who responded to the scene recovered more than 15 spent shell casings, indicating that multiple shots were fired.
Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have launched an investigation into the killing and are appealing to anyone with information that could assist investigators to come forward.
The incident brings St Vincent and the Grenadines’ homicide count to 21 for the year.
No arrests have been announced, and investigations are continuing.
