RSVGPF urges public to avoid speculation over  Scott’s death

The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has confirmed the death of Police Constable #1116 Kenrick Scott, saying the circumstances surrounding his passing remain under investigation while appealing for privacy and restraint.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the RSVGPF said Constable Scott died following an incident that occurred at approximately 11 a.m.

The incident occurred at the SSU base at Old Montrose. 

Police did not disclose the cause of death, stating only that investigations are ongoing and that further information will be released once the relevant facts have been verified and the necessary investigative procedures completed.

“The circumstances surrounding Constable Scott’s death are currently under investigation,” the Force said.

One News SVG, however, understands that’s issue is being treated as a suspected suicide. 

Commissioner of Police Enville Williams, the High Command and members of the rank and file extended condolences to Scott’s family, friends and colleagues as they mourn his passing.

The RSVGPF also appealed to members of the public and media organisations to respect the privacy of the officer’s family and to refrain from speculation or the circulation of unverified information.

The appeal comes as widespread rumours continue to circulate on social media and through word of mouth following news of Scott’s death. Authorities have not publicly confirmed any allegations or claims being shared online, and no official information has been released linking the officer’s death to any specific circumstances beyond the fact that the matter remains under investigation.

As a matter of responsible journalism, One News SVG is withholding unverified claims that have been circulating publicly, as publishing such allegations without official confirmation could unfairly harm individuals, including persons who may have no involvement in the incident.

The RSVGPF has indicated that additional information will be made available once investigators have established the facts.
