Church youth leaders from across St. Vincent and the Grenadines are set to begin a conference training initiative today aimed at strengthening their ability to support and guide young people.

The conference, hosted by the Association of Evangelical Churches, runs from April 21 to April 26 at Highpoint Church in Arnos Vale. Sessions scheduled from April 21 to April 23 will begin at 6 p.m., while sessions on April 25 and April 26 will commence at 9:15 a.m.

The Association stated that this five-day initiative is specifically designed to equip Vincentian church leaders with practical and spiritual tools to “shepherd the hearts” of young people. It said participants are being trained to reach youth not only within church settings but also throughout communities across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Facilitating the training is Founder and Executive Director of globalLead International, Dr. Chris Davis. Since establishing the organisation in 1996, Dr. Davis and his team have trained more than 28,000 ministry and youth leaders across 50 countries on five continents.

The Association also stated that the initiative is grounded in the goal of guiding young people toward life transformation through faith in Jesus Christ.

Drawing from Dr. Davis’ background in biblical counselling and Christian education, participants will engage with resource books developed by Dr. Davis and his team, including Basic Training Discipleship, Connection Points, and Foundations for Life, which focus on strengthening discipleship and building authentic relationships.

In addition, attendees are being encouraged to develop one-year strategic plans tailored to their local church contexts, with the aim of ensuring that the impact of the training continues beyond the conference.

“As youth across the nation face various modern challenges, the Association of Evangelical Churches remains committed to fostering a network of well-trained, compassionate leaders dedicated to the spiritual growth and well-being of the nation’s young people,” the Association said.
