The Republic of China (Taiwan) has expanded its education assistance to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines with the presentation of bursaries and scholarships at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (Villa Campus).
Ambassador Fiona Huei-Chun Fan confirmed that 524 Vincentian students from primary, secondary, tertiary, and technical institutions are receiving scholarships this year, with a total allocation of EC$320,000. Since the programme began in 1998, more than 12,500 students have benefited.
She noted that 30 bursaries valued at EC$2,000 each, totalling EC$60,000, were awarded at the Community College, along with 10 full scholarships covering tuition and living expenses for advanced studies.

“Taiwan is proud to stand alongside St. Vincent and the Grenadines in championing youth empowerment. Young people are not only vital to our present, but also the bridge to our future,” Ambassador Fan said.
Over the past two decades, 321 Vincentian students have studied in Taiwan, earning degrees in agriculture, healthcare, culinary arts, and technology. Ambassador Fan encouraged students to apply for Taiwan scholarships and explore innovative fields, particularly in information and communication technology.
The initiative signalled Taiwan’s long-standing partnership with SVG in human resource development, providing opportunities for young Vincentians to pursue higher education and contribute to national growth.
