On an ordinary Monday afternoon in Gordon Yard, a red Nissan Juke cruised along the main road headed to Barrouallie. Behind the wheel was a local businesswoman, making her regular commute to deliver freshly baked bread from a bakery in Spring Village. What started as a routine trip turned into a life-saving drama in an instant.

The driver never saw it coming. A passenger van, registration H6471, reportedly suffered brake failure and veered perilously towards a steep embankment. Plunging hundreds of feet down the sharp precipice below would have spelled disaster for its occupants—including two pregnant women, children, and other passengers.

But the red Juke was in the right place at the right time. Witnesses described the collision as a thunderous impact: the van smashed into the Nissan, bounced off it, and came to rest on the rocks instead of tumbling over the edge. “If that red car hadn’t been there, it would have been a tragedy,” one onlooker said.

“Boy, that saved lives. Partner, me sorry that happed to you ah nah, but thank God still, e saved lives,” referring to the vehicle.

Rescuers quickly pulled passengers from the minivan, with several rushed to hospital for treatment. Amid the chaos, grateful survivors surrounded the businesswoman, thanking her profusely, saying there might have been deaths if her vehicle wasn’t driving along the road at that exact point in time.

The vehicle’s owner, national cricketer Kesrick Williams, her brother, is now tallying the damage to his car and the impact on his business. Yet amid the losses, he’s praising divine intervention.

He told One News SVG he is thankful to God that his sister is safe and that God placed the vehicle there at that moment, to help save all those people.

Williams is planning a Six-a-side football match day in Spring Village on May 3, an event he will use to bring the North Leeward area together and spread positivity among the youths while creating an atmosphere of love and thanksgiving.
