Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ Ambassador to Cuba, Her Excellency Angella Jackson, has presented her letter of credence to Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, completing a key diplomatic step in her posting.
According to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and Diaspora Affairs release dated May 22, 2026, Ambassador Jackson presented her credentials on May 14 during a ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Havana, Cuba.
She also presented a copy of her letter of credence to Cuba’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, on May 12.
“Her Excellency Angella Jackson, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to the Republic of Cuba, presented her letter of credence to the President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel on Thursday, 14 May, 2026 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Havana, Cuba,” the release stated.
During the ceremony, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel extended congratulations to Prime Minister Dr Godwin Friday on his election to office.

“He also expressed his appreciation for our continued support from the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines,” the Ministry said.
The Ministry also congratulated Ambassador Jackson on her appointment, describing it as an important milestone and expressing confidence in her leadership. It said it looks forward to her continued service in advancing the country’s foreign policy objectives and development priorities.
Ambassador Jackson was officially announced as Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ representative to Cuba on January 22, 2026, as part of a group of newly appointed heads of mission and consular officials.
According to a separate release dated March 25, 2026, the Ministry noted that since assuming her posting in Cuba, Ambassador Jackson has maintained close contact with Vincentian students studying on the island as the Government continues to monitor challenges affecting Cuba.
“Miss Angella Jackson has met with forty-two (42) students on March 14 and 18 and remains in regular communication with others,” the statement said.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Cuba this year mark 34 years of diplomatic relations, having established formal ties on May 26, 1992. The two countries have maintained cooperation in areas including healthcare, education, technical assistance, and human resource development, with Cuba providing scholarship and training opportunities for Vincentians over several decades.
