A traveller arriving in Canada from St Vincent and the Grenadines has been arrested after border officers allegedly discovered more than 15 kilogrammes of cocaine concealed in luggage at Toronto Pearson International Airport, Canadian authorities say.
The seizure was announced on Wednesday (June 24) by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in a post on its official social media page.
According to the CBSA, officers at Toronto Pearson International Airport (identified by the airport code YYZ) intercepted a traveller arriving from St Vincent and the Grenadines and seized more than 15kg of cocaine.
The agency said the traveller was arrested and transferred to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Ontario, along with the suspected narcotics, for further investigation and legal proceedings.

The CBSA also shared an image appearing to show an X-ray scan of luggage in connection with the seizure.
Canadian authorities did not release the traveller’s identity, nationality, age or gender, nor did they provide details about the flight involved or whether any charges have been laid.
The announcement comes as Canadian border and law enforcement agencies continue efforts to combat the trafficking of illegal drugs through the country’s ports of entry.
No information has been released indicating whether the individual is a citizen or resident of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The matter remains under investigation by Canadian authorities.
