Veteran educator Mrs Mavis Findlay-Joseph has officially assumed duties as Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Innovation, Digital Transformation and Information.
The appointment took effect on Friday, June 26, 2026, placing Mrs Findlay-Joseph at the helm of the country’s education system after more than three decades of service in the profession.
According to the ministry, Mrs Findlay-Joseph has served as an educator in St Vincent and the Grenadines for more than 34 years, working at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels. She most recently held the position of Senior Education Officer.
The ministry described her professional journey as one marked by commitment, dedication, meticulousness and vision. Throughout her career, she has overseen and supported several key educational initiatives, including serving as Reading Specialist under the C-CETT programme from 2007 to 2010, acting as focal point for the Early Learners Programme between 2015 and 2020, and supporting the Peace Corps Eastern Caribbean programme from 2014 to 2023.
Mrs Findlay-Joseph is also pursuing doctoral studies in Educational Leadership, Systems and School Improvement.
In announcing her assumption of office, the Ministry of Education welcomed Mrs Findlay-Joseph to her new role and expressed confidence in her leadership as the sector continues its efforts to improve educational outcomes and advance innovation throughout the school system.
The ministry also acknowledged the contribution of Deputy Chief Education Officer Joycelyn Blake-Browne, thanking her for providing leadership during the transition period.
As Chief Education Officer, Mrs Findlay-Joseph assumes responsibility for providing professional leadership within the education sector and supporting the implementation of policies and programmes aimed at strengthening education across St Vincent and the Grenadines.
