A teenager remains hospitalised with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle along the Brighton/Diamond main road on Saturday.

The youth, 16-year-old Sky Williams, sustained multiple injuries in the collision and is receiving medical treatment at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in Kingstown.

He had lost consciousness due to a head lash. He also suffered spinal damage, and he needs elective surgery on one of his legs where a bone is broken.

In the hours following the collision, relatives appealed to the public for information, believing the driver had left the scene. The family has since confirmed that the driver has been identified.

Despite that development, their immediate concern remains the teenager’s recovery as he continues to undergo treatment for his injuries.

Police are expected to continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
