Georgetown Farmer Remanded on Murder Charge in Dickson Fatal Shooting

A 33-year-old Georgetown farmer has been remanded into custody after being charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a North Windward man last weekend.

Rhyse Henry appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Thursday, August 6, charged with the murder of Clydon Cato, a 35-year-old labourer of Dickson Village.

Police allege that Henry shot Cato about his body with a firearm, resulting in his death.

As the charge is indictable, Henry was not required to enter a plea during his first court appearance. He was remanded into custody until September 21, 2026, when the matter is expected to return to court.

Cato’s body was discovered on the morning of Saturday, August 1, in the North Windward community of Dickson with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting have not been disclosed by investigators, and the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force has not publicly released details regarding the events leading up to the incident.

Cato’s death marked the country’s 29th recorded homicide of 2026.

Cato had previously appeared before the courts on several criminal matters.

In 2021, he was charged with the attempted murder of a Spring Village man. That charge was later withdrawn, and the case proceeded on a charge of unlawful and malicious wounding.

In 2023, a High Court jury acquitted Cato of charges of rape and assault causing bodily harm. At the time, he was serving a prison sentence for separate offences of burglary and wounding.

The murder charge against Henry remains before the courts, and, as legal proceedings are ongoing, the allegations have not been tested in court.
