The St. Vincent Girls’ High School (GHS) community is mourning the loss of Form Five Technical student Morica DaSilva, who died on Thursday, June 25, the same day she graduated from the institution.

In a statement shared on its official Facebook page, the school described her passing as a profound loss. It paid tribute to a student whose kindness, resilience, and determination left a lasting impression on classmates and staff.

According to the statement, DaSilva will be remembered for her intelligence, warm friendship, and creative spirit. She had a passion for singing and dancing, was a valued member of the Loyal Hearts Ad Alta Choir, and also enjoyed crocheting.

The school noted that earlier that day, DaSilva was presented with the Celina Cordice-Primus Award for Perseverance, recognising, as it described as the determination, courage, and strength of character she demonstrated throughout her journey.

She was not at the ceremony to collect the award due to her battle with late-stage cancer intensified, sources say. During the ceremony, the school later announced that she had passed away.

“It is with profound sadness that the St. Vincent Girls’ High School community mourns the passing of our beloved Form 5

Technical student, Morica DaSilva, who passed away on her graduation day, June 25, 2026,” the statement said.

GHS extended its deepest condolences to DaSilva’s parents, relatives, friends, and classmates, expressing hope that they would find comfort in the support of those around them during their time of grief.

The school added that although DaSilva is no longer with them, her memory “will forever remain a cherished part of the Girls’ High School family”.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. The school said details of the service will be shared when they become available.
