Experienced Strategist Gale Branch Appointed President of SVG Conservation Fund Board

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Conservation Fund (SVGCF) has appointed governance and strategic advisory professional Gale Branch as President of its Board of Directors, marking a new chapter for the organisation as it continues its work to strengthen biodiversity conservation and climate resilience across the country.

The appointment took effect on July 13, 2026, according to a press release issued by the SVGCF on Monday.

Branch succeeds Gideon Nash, who assumed the presidency after the departure of Sarah Louise Mitchell, now the Attorney General of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The Fund expressed gratitude to both former presidents for their leadership, crediting them with helping to strengthen the organisation’s governance, expand strategic partnerships and advance its mission of securing sustainable financing for biodiversity conservation and environmental resilience.

Branch has served on the SVGCF Board of Directors since February 2025 and most recently held the position of Treasurer/Secretary. During that time, she contributed to the Fund’s strategic oversight and governance as it continued to expand its programmes and partnerships.

The newly appointed president is the Founder and Principal of Branch Strategic Solutions, a strategic operations and advisory firm that serves executives, entrepreneurs and organisational leaders throughout the United States and the Caribbean.

According to the SVGCF, her professional career spans more than 40 years in banking, financial services, operations leadership and strategic advisory, including two decades leading her own consultancy. The organisation said she has built a reputation for helping institutions turn long-term vision into measurable results through effective management and sound decision-making.

Branch also serves on the boards of the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund, the Dame Susan Foundation for Girls and the Farmers Support Company. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in Organisational Management from Eastern University in St. Davids, Pennsylvania, United States.

Describing her appointment as an honour, Branch said she looks forward to working with fellow board members, the Secretariat, partners and communities to advance the Fund’s mission.

“It is a privilege to serve as President of the Board of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Conservation Fund. I look forward to working alongside my fellow Board members, the Secretariat, our partners, and the communities we serve to continue advancing the Fund’s mission,” she said.

As Board President, Branch will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and governance oversight while supporting the SVGCF’s continued investment in projects aimed at protecting biodiversity, strengthening climate resilience and empowering communities through sustainable, locally driven initiatives.

The organisation said it is confident that, under Branch’s leadership, it will continue building partnerships and mobilising long-term financing to safeguard the nation’s natural resources while supporting sustainable development for current and future generations.

Established as a not-for-profit company on November 30, 2015, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Conservation Fund was created to provide a sustainable source of financing for biodiversity conservation. The Fund supports the long-term management and expansion of the country’s system of protected areas, while investing in initiatives that promote the conservation and sustainable management of both marine and terrestrial ecosystems.
