Vincentians are being invited to turn the characters, sayings, traditions, and everyday experiences that define local life into comedy for a chance to win EC$500.00.
The invitation comes through “Skits & Giggles,” a new online comedy competition launched by LOL Comedy Concert in collaboration with Alpha Entertainment and Jungl Lounge.
The competition is open to residents of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, who are being challenged to create comedy videos of no more than 90 seconds highlighting aspects of Vincentian culture and everyday life.
Participants can draw inspiration from local traditions, Carnival, food, family, and community life, as well as the familiar characters, expressions, and experiences that are distinctly Vincentian.
The organisers are encouraging participants to “get creative and bring their own unique comedic spin to the things that make Vincentian culture special.”
The competition will be decided through public engagement, with the participant whose entry receives the most likes declared the winner.
To enter, participants must visit Alpha Entertainment on Instagram or Facebook and download the official “Skits & Giggles” social media frame through the link in the account’s bio.
They must then create a comedy video using the frame, follow both Alpha Entertainment and Jungl Lounge, and collaborate with both pages when posting their entry.
Participants are also encouraged to share their videos and invite friends, family, and followers to support their entries with likes.
The competition is running until August 31, 2026, with the winner scheduled to be announced on September 1, 2026.
According to the organisers, “Skits & Giggles” is intended to do more than entertain. The initiative is also aimed at encouraging young creatives, comedians, actors, content creators, and members of the public to use comedy as a way of celebrating Vincentian identity.
The competition forms part of the wider entertainment activities surrounding LOL Comedy Concert and is intended to combine comedy, creativity, and Vincentian culture in a format that allows the public to participate directly.
The organisers are encouraging participants to find humour in the familiar aspects of life in SVG and, in their words, to “grab your phones, get creative and make SVG laugh.”
