A netball match at the Richland Park Netball Court was disrupted on Saturday evening after a section of the court’s fence gave way, causing several players and spectators to fall from the playing area.
The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. during a match between two teams, according to an eyewitness who was present at the venue.
The eyewitness reported that one person sustained an injury to the toe following the collapse. Individuals were reportedly “saved” after a nearby fruit tree helped to prevent a more serious fall.
The incident also saw some persons holding onto a wall as they attempted to climb back onto the court area after the fence gave way.
It was not immediately clear what caused the fence to break or whether any additional persons were injured.
The condition of the affected person, reportedly a young spectator was not immediately available, and organisers have not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
The Richland Park Netball Court is one of several community sporting facilities used regularly for local competitions and recreational activities.
A High Wind Advisory was in place earlier today.
