Several communities across St Vincent and the Grenadines are experiencing disruptions to their water supply following the passage of a tropical wave, the Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) has announced.
In a news release issued on Tuesday, October 6, the CWSA said a number of water supply systems are experiencing operational challenges as a result of the weather conditions.
The Majorca, Montreal and Mamoon water supply systems have been severely affected, leaving the communities they serve completely without water.
The Perseverance Water Supply System is also affected. According to the CWSA, the system is experiencing high levels of turbidity and will have to be temporarily closed as a precautionary measure to prevent potential contamination of the water supply.
The Authority said technical crews have been deployed and are working to address the problems, clear the affected systems and restore water service to impacted communities as quickly as possible.
The CWSA is also warning that additional breakages within the water distribution network may occur throughout the country, potentially affecting other communities.
Residents are being encouraged to report water outages and visible breakages in their areas to the Authority.
The CWSA said it will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on restoration efforts as the day progresses.
