Colombian sent for mental health evaluation after found with weapon in SVG

Police say that on April 16, 2025, they arrested and charged Mateo Florez, a 41-year-old retiree from Colombian, with the offence of Possession of an Offensive Weapon.

According to investigations, on April 16, 2025, the accused was allegedly found in possession of an offensive weapon, namely, a cutlass, along the Rose Bank Public Road, without lawful excuse and with intent to commit an offence.

Mr. Florez appeared before the Layou Magistrate Court on April 17, 2025, following which he was admitted to the Mental Health Center for a two-week evaluation.

The matter was adjourned to May 2, 2025.

Mason charged with Disobeying Court Order

On April 18, 2025, police arrested and charged Bruce-Lee Murray, a 45-year-old Mason of Akers, with the offence of Disobeying a Court Order.

According to investigations, Murray is alleged to have wilfully disobeyed a court order duly issued by Senior Magistrate Miss Tamika McKenzie. The offence was reportedly committed on April 16, 2024, in Kingstown.

Murray appeared before the Calliaqua Magistrate Court on April 22, 2025, and pleaded guilty to the charge. He faces seven months imprisonment which was suspended for the duration of one year, if he breaches the imposed conditions. He was also ordered to report to the Stubbs Police Station every Tuesday between 6am and 6pm. 

Labourer charged with Assault

On April 18, 2025, police arrested and charged DaineymEnville, a 34-year-old Labourer of Cane Hall, with the offence of Assault. 

According to investigations, the accused allegedly assaulted a 58-year-old Domestic of the same address by pushing her on her chest with his hands, causing Actual Bodily Harm. 

The offence was reportedly committed in Cane Hall on April 8, 2025. Enville appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate Courton April 22, 2025, and pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was granted bail in the sum of $1,500.00 ECC with one surety.  He was also ordered not to have any contact with the complainantand the matter was adjourned to January 8, 2026.
