Driver & 3 Passengers Hospitalised After Bus Plunges Over Embankment in La Croix

A public transport omnibus plunged over an embankment along the La Croix public road on Wednesday afternoon, leaving the driver, conductor and passengers injured, with four people requiring further treatment at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

According to the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), the accident occurred at about 2:26 p.m. on September 9.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the omnibus, driven by 59-year-old chauffeur Garvin Brown of Greiggs, was travelling along the La Croix public road in the direction of the Mesopotamia Police Station when it went over the embankment.

Police said the driver, the conductor and all passengers sustained injuries in the crash. Most of the injured were treated at the Levi Latham Health Centre and later discharged.

However, the driver and three passengers remain hospitalised at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, where they are receiving further medical treatment.

The omnibus sustained extensive damage.

Police have not disclosed how many passengers were on board at the time of the accident.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing.
