The St Vincent and the Grenadines Postal Service is seeking to strengthen trade facilitation and enhance service delivery through participation in a regional forum focused on postal services, customs, security and business.
According to a release from the St Vincent and the Grenadines Postal Corporation, the Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal (PUASP) officially opened its Inter-Regional Forum on Posts, Customs, Security and Business in San Salvador, El Salvador, on June 9.
The three-day forum, which runs from June 9 to 11, brings together representatives of postal administrations, customs authorities, security agencies and international organisations to discuss issues affecting the future of trade, logistics and postal services.
St Vincent and the Grenadines is represented at the event by Director of Postal Services June Jacqueline Adams Ollivierre and Deputy Comptroller of Customs and Excise Leanne James.
The release stated that the forum provides a platform for dialogue and cooperation among stakeholders involved in the movement of goods, information and services across borders. Participants are expected to examine opportunities to strengthen collaboration, improve operational efficiency, enhance security measures and facilitate international trade.

Discussions during the forum are focusing on a range of issues, including postal modernisation, digital transformation, e-commerce growth, customs integration, supply chain security, risk management and the role of postal operators in supporting economic development and regional connectivity.
Commenting on the importance of the event, Adams Ollivierre said the participation of senior officers from both the postal and customs sectors would help identify practical ways to improve operations.
“SVG Post collaborates very well with the local Customs and Excise Department and this opportunity which has been afforded to two senior officers of both entities will aid in identifying practical strategies that will further enhance service delivery, support secure and efficient trade, and contribute to sustainable revenue generation for both organisations,” she said.
The release noted that the forum underscores PUASP’s commitment to promoting cooperation among member countries and fostering innovative solutions to challenges facing the postal and logistics sectors in an increasingly interconnected world.
In addition to traditional postal products, SVG Postal offers a range of services, including US Mail Box (Air and Ocean), MoneyGram money transfers, processing of United States, Canadian and United Kingdom visa applications, bill payment services, National Lottery products and telephone top-up services.
