UPDATE: Police probe death of one-year-old in Richland Park

A one-year-old child has died following an incident at a residence in Richland Park on Saturday morning, prompting an investigation by the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF).

In a press release, the RSVGPF, Police said the child was found unresponsive inside the home sometime after 7 a.m. on July 25 and was taken to the Levi Latham Health Centre for medical treatment. However, he was later pronounced dead.

Well-placed sources have informed One News SVG that the matter is being treated as a suspected electrocution.

The child’s identity has not been released because he was a minor, police said. 

Investigators are continuing enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the child’s death. Police said a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the cause of death.

In a statement, the RSVGPF extended its condolences to the child’s family and loved ones during what it described as an extremely difficult time.

No further details have been released as investigations remain ongoing.
