Calypsonian Alvin ‘Zion-I’ Dennie, who has what many consider the most controversial calypso song for Vincymas 2025, is among the finalists who will compete for the National Calypso Monarch title on 6 July.
In the semifinals held on Sunday at the Kingstown Cruise Ship Terminal, Mr Dennie moved the entire audience with his popular calypso hit “We know who you mean”.
The other finalists are Lornette ‘Fya Empress’ Nedd with Children of the Drum, Dereck ‘Man Sick’ Alexander with Nothing Good to Say, Shaunelle McKenzie with Ghetto Mentality, Maxwell ‘Tajoe’ Francis with Change for What, Zamfir ‘Zangie’ Adams with My Nation, Bernard ‘Reality I’ White with Heart Beat, Shena Collis with Our Nation’s Cry, Marvo ‘Marvolous Marvo’ Morgan with Calypso Ah Singing, Dennis Bowman with Plenty More to Come, and Johnny ‘Johnny Rebel’ Hall with The Judiciary.
The reserve finalist is Robert ‘Patches’ Knights with Fake News.
All finalists and a representative from the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Band are requested to attend a meeting this afternoon (Monday, 30 June) at the CDC’s Conference Room, commencing at 6:00 p.m.
The National Calypso Finals will be held on Sunday, 6 July, at Victoria Park, commencing at 8:00 p.m.
