Seventeen primary schools across St Vincent and the Grenadines are set to participate in the 2026 Inter-Primary Schools Developmental Cricket Competition, which bowls off on Wednesday 27th May.
The tournament is being organised by the Division of Sports and Physical Activities in collaboration with the SVG Cricket Association and will form part of the country’s school sports calendar for the 2026 academic cycle.
The competition will be played under modified rules and is intended to serve as a platform for developing fundamental cricketing skills at the grassroots level.
The Division of Sports and Physical Activities said the competition “will feature modified cricket rules and is being used as a platform to infuse the fundamental cricketing skills at the grassroot level.”

The seventeen teams have been divided into four zones and will compete in round robin matches during the preliminary stage of the tournament.
Matches will be played between Wednesday 27th May and Tuesday 2nd June at four venues: London Playing Field, Stubbs Playing Field, Belair Playing Field and Buccament Bay Playing Field.
Following the preliminary round, the top two teams from each zone will advance to the knockout stage of the competition.
The Division of Sports and Physical Activities added that the 2026 Inter Primary School Developmental Cricket Competition “will bring the curtains down on calendared school sporting activities held under the auspices of the Division of Sports and Physical Activities.”
The competition is the second consecutive edition of the developmental format and will conclude the Division’s scheduled school sporting activities for 2026.
