An alert has been sounded in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) as some person’s WhatsApp accounts have been hacked today and in recent times.
Multiple reports have emerged of scammers attempting to gain access to WhatsApp accounts in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (and elsewhere) through deceptive phone calls.
Victims say they are contacted about a supposed Zoom meeting and are then sent a verification code, which they are urged to share as a “meeting code”.
The advice: Do not share this code under any circumstances.
Security experts warn that once the six-digit code is handed over, scammers can immediately take control of your account.
Added to this is the emotional fallout and confusion that comes from a hack. One lady reached out to us about her uncle’s WhatsApp being hacked.
Via WhatsApp message, she said: “My uncle is here frustrated. His hands are shaking”. Her uncle lost access to his account earlier today.

Cybersecurity experts have warned uses to never disclose verification codes sent to their phone.
They are also urged to enable two-step verification within WhatsApp settings and emain cautious of unsolicited calls or messages.
Also, users in large WhatsApp groups are urged to be mindful, as hackers can use a compromised member’s account to contact you for the code, strengthening believability.
Readers are urged to share this warning to help protect friends and family from falling victim.
