The search is continuing today (May 31) for 10-year-old Caldon Robeiro of Park Hill, who was reported missing at sea off the coast of Colonarie, North Central Windward, on Saturday.
According to reports, Caldon had gone to the beach with a group of friends, a common recreational activity for young people in the area. Difficulties were reportedly encountered while they were in the water. Although the other children managed to get out safely, Caldon did not.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. on May 30, the St Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard responded to a report of a possible drowning in the area. Coast Guard personnel conducted search operations despite challenging conditions, including rough seas, rainfall, reduced visibility associated with Saharan dust haze, and generally adverse weather.
After several hours, the search was suspended as daylight faded. Operations resumed on Sunday morning.
Community members have continued to monitor developments, with many hoping that the child can be located.
Meanwhile, in its noon advisory on Sunday (May 31), the St Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services issued both a weather advisory and a marine advisory.

The weather advisory urged residents to take the necessary precautions due to reduced visibility and poor air quality resulting from Saharan dust haze.
The marine advisory also advised small-craft operators and sea bathers to exercise caution because of reduced visibility associated with the haze.
The Meteorological Services forecast a high tide at 5:34 p.m. on Sunday.
Sea conditions are expected to be slight to moderate in open waters, with swells ranging from 1.0 to 1.8 metres. Winds are forecast to be east-north-easterly to easterly at 15 to 35 km/h (9 to 22 mph).
At the time of publication, no official report had indicated that the child had been found.
