Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in the North Windward community of Dickson after his body was discovered with apparent gunshot wounds on Saturday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Clydon Cato. He is also known by the aliases Nico and Savage. Residents awoke on 1 August to the shocking news as police responded to the scene and began their investigations.
The circumstances surrounding Mr Cato’s death remain unclear. Investigators have not yet disclosed how the incident occurred or whether any suspects have been identified.
Mr Cato’s death brings the number of homicides recorded in St Vincent and the Grenadines to 29 so far in 2026.
Police are continuing their investigations, and anyone with information that may assist is encouraged to contact the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force.

Cato made the news headlines before. According to Searchlight Newspaper, Clydon Cato, of Dickson Village, was charged on Monday November 29, 2021, with the attempted murder of Hyron Ryan of Spring Village, Georgetown.
On Aug. 22, 2022, however, that charge was withdrawn. According to iWitness News, Cato appeared before Pompey on that same date charged that on Nov. 27, 2021, at Spring Village, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Hyron Ryan of Spring Village.
In May 2023, ANN reported that Cato who was 28-years-old at the time, and was serving prison time for burglary and wounding was freed on charges of rape, as well as assault, causing bodily harm. Cato, was acquitted after a 9-member jury, comprised of 7 women and 2 men, found him not guilty on both charges.
