Police have charged a man in connection with the fatal road traffic accident that claimed the life of a Massy Stores employee along the Arnos Vale Public Road earlier this week.
The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said Ardon Richards of Level Garden/Brighton has been arrested and charged with allegedly causing the death of Garvet Sam by reckless driving.
According to police, the incident occurred at about 5:46 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, along the Arnos Vale Public Road.
Investigators said Sam, 56, was a pedestrian at the time of the collision. He sustained injuries and was taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, where he later died while receiving medical treatment.
Richards has also been charged with failing to renew his driving permit on his birth date, November 28, 2025.
The charges were laid on Friday, September 11. Richards is expected to appear before the Serious Offences Court on Monday, September 14, to answer the charges.
The RSVGPF has extended condolences to the family, relatives and friends of Garvet Sam.
As the matter is now before the court, the accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
