St. Vincent and the Grenadines has another doctorate holder after Vincentian educator Dr Darron Rodan John successfully defended his doctoral dissertation, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration from National Dong Hwa University in Taiwan.
The university announced that John had successfully defended his dissertation titled, “Determinants of Digital Banking Services Adoption Among College Students in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines”, fulfilling the requirements for the award of the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Business Administration.
John also shared the milestone on social media, expressing gratitude for reaching what he described as a significant personal and academic achievement.
“By the grace of Almighty God, today, Wednesday, July 15, 2026, I, Darron Rodan John, successfully defended my doctoral dissertation,” he wrote.
“With immense pride, humility, and gratitude, I can now officially say: Dr. Darron Rodan John! Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your grace, guidance, strength, favour, and unwavering faithfulness throughout this journey. You carried me through every challenge, every setback, and every moment of uncertainty. God and time always!”
Dr John serves as a lecturer in Information and Communication Technology at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC). Prior to completing his doctorate, he held both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in the field while pursuing advanced research in Business Administration at National Dong Hwa University in Taiwan.
His doctoral research focused on factors influencing the adoption of digital banking services among college students in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, contributing to a growing body of research on technology adoption in financial services within the Caribbean context.
Beyond academia, Dr John has also been active in public life. He contested the November 2025 General Election as the Unity Labour Party’s candidate for the South Windward constituency but was unsuccessful.
His achievement adds to the growing number of Vincentians attaining the highest level of academic qualification and contributing to research with direct relevance to national development and digital transformation.
