Police have charged a Vermont man with murder in connection with the death of a Fitz Hughes woman following a stabbing incident in Campden Park.

In a press release issued on June 2, the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said that Kemarl Small, 36, a labourer of Vermont, was arrested and charged on May 31.

According to police, investigations revealed that on May 29, 2026, Small allegedly caused the death of Rayjen Carter, 27, of Fitz Hughes, by unlawfully stabbing her about the body with an unknown object.

The RSVGPF said the offence was committed in Campden Park on May 29.
Police further stated that Small appeared before the Serious Offences Court on June 1. He was not required to enter a plea because the matter is indictable. He was remanded into custody until July 2, 2026.

Reports indicate that Carter and Small had been involved in a romantic relationship. A video featuring both is on our WhatsApp channel.

Information reaching this publication suggests that Carter had recently arrived at a popular gathering spot in Campden Park on May 29 when a male assailant allegedly approached and inflicted multiple stab wounds.

Residents have also raised concerns about what they describe as delays in obtaining medical attention for the victim following the incident.

Police investigations are continuing.
As the matter is before the court, the accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
