Tropical Shipping has reaffirmed its commitment to youth development and sport in St Vincent and the Grenadines through a financial contribution of $2,989 to Black Sands Swim Squad in support of a Developmental Swim Meet scheduled for September 2026.
The cheque was presented by Kerwin Hinson, Sales Representative at Tropical Shipping, to Kyle Dougan on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, during a brief presentation ceremony at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre in Ratho Mill.
The contribution will assist Black Sands Swim Squad in hosting the developmental swim meet while supporting swimming education and community outreach initiatives aimed at encouraging participation in the sport and promoting water safety.
Speaking at the presentation, Hinson said it was a privilege to be able to make a meaningful contribution to the development of swimming in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Hinson expressed that Tropical Shipping is committed to Island Life, supporting community initiatives with a focus on youth, education, sports and the environment.
Coach Dougan expressed his gratitude for the support, noting that “this support allows Black Sands Swim Squad to not only host a developmental swim meet that will give young swimmers valuable competitive experience, but also to extend our reach into the community through swimming education and outreach programs. Opportunities like these help us build stronger athletes, safer swimmers and a healthier community. Tropical Shipping’s commitment to youth development and island life is making a real difference.”
Tropical Shipping has been a longstanding supporter of swimming in St Vincent and the Grenadines, having sponsored several local competitions and swimming initiatives over the years. The company’s continued support of youth sporting programmes reflects its commitment to community development and nurturing the next generation of athletes.
Black Sands Swim Squad is among the country’s leading swimming clubs and has produced numerous national champions and record holders. The club regularly competes at local, regional and international competitions and has played a significant role in the development of swimming in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
