Former Netballer/Athlete turns free lottery ticket into $524,000 Super 6 jackpot

By Val Matthias. Updated 9:31 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Atlantic Standard Time (GMT-4).
Former netballer and sprinter Curllan Francis Edwards is planning to purchase a house after winning $524,000 in the Super 6 lottery draw held on Tuesday, September 29.
Edwards, who is from Barrouallie but works in Canouan, received her promotional cheque during a presentation ceremony at the National Lotteries Authority (NLA) headquarters on Wednesday, October 7.
The $1.048 million jackpot was shared between two winners, one in St Vincent and the Grenadines and the other in St Lucia.
The winning numbers were 2, 8, 12, 16, 19 and 25. Edwards purchased her winning ticket at Honeycomb in Canouan.
Speaking at Wednesday’s presentation, Edwards said her journey to the jackpot began with her love for scratch games before she was encouraged to try other lottery games.
She explained that she initially played 3D using the numbers 5-1-1, which held personal significance because both she and her daughter were born on the 5th of November.
Edwards eventually began playing Super 6, although she admitted it was not her favourite game. She recalled that she was not even planning to play on September 29 but eventually purchased a ticket after receiving a free ticket from an earlier purchase.
After watching the draw on YouTube, she photographed the winning numbers and sent them, along with a picture of her ticket, to her brother in New York to verify whether she had won.
Her brother confirmed the win and told her she was now a millionaire. Edwards said she was initially uncertain about the amount she had won and was overwhelmed by the news.
She said purchasing a house was her immediate plan for the winnings. Edwards described herself as blessed rather than lucky and expressed gratitude to God, her family and the National Lotteries Authority for their support.
National Lotteries Authority Board Chairperson LuannHaddaway congratulated Edwards, saying the Authority was pleased to be part of making her dream of home ownership a reality.
Haddaway said owning a home provides security and something lasting for winners and their families. She also encouraged Edwards to consider her plans carefully and use the money wisely.
The winning ticket was sold by Honeycomb in Canouan. The agent will receive a commission of 1.5 per cent of the $524,000 jackpot won in St Vincent and the Grenadines, amounting to $7,860.
Haddaway also used the occasion to reaffirm the NLA’s commitment to improving its governance, accountability and management of resources as the organisation marks 42 years of operation.
The NLA said the lottery’s proceeds support sports, culture and education in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
