Secondary school theatre students will have the opportunity to perform alongside experienced actors and gain exposure to professional theatre through Alpha Studios’ upcoming LOL Comedy Concert, according to Executive Director Javed DaSouza.
The production, scheduled for October 24, 2026, at Russels Auditorium, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the show beginning at 7:00 p.m., is being presented as more than an evening of comedy and entertainment, with organisers aiming to create meaningful opportunities for young Vincentian performers while helping to revitalise interest in live theatre.
Through partnerships with secondary schools offering Theatre Arts programmes, outstanding students will join the cast of the production, allowing them to experience the demands and creativity of a professional stage performance while learning alongside established actors.
The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between the classroom and the professional stage, giving young creatives the opportunity to develop their skills, build confidence, and gain insight into the world of theatre production.
DaSouza said the collaboration reflects Alpha Studios’ broader vision of strengthening the performing arts sector in St. Vincent and the Grenadines by making theatre more exciting, relevant, and accessible to modern audiences.
“Live theatre has always had the power to bring people together, tell our stories, and reflect our culture. The LOL Comedy Concert is about reminding people just how exciting theatre can be while creating a space where local talent can thrive,” DaSouza said.
The participating students will receive professional performance experience and compensation for their involvement, highlighting the potential for opportunities within the creative industry.
The LOL Comedy Concert will combine comedy, storytelling, music, and relatable Caribbean experiences into a high-energy theatrical production designed to appeal to audiences of all ages.
Alpha Studios hopes the production will become an annual event while contributing to the growth of a new generation of actors, writers, directors, and theatre practitioners in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The show is being staged in collaboration with Jungl Lounge SVG and IKTV 112 as part of their Tales from 784 entertainment initiative.
