Minister of Education, Vocational Training, Innovation, Digital Transformation, and Information, Phillip Jackson, has condemned the reported attack on Acting Director of the Agency for Public Information (API), Nadia Slater, describing the incident as deeply troubling and calling for prayers for the victims and the country.
In a statement posted on his social media page on Tuesday, Jackson said: “I condemn the attack on one of our employees of our Ministry, Ms. Nadia Slater, Acting Director of the Agency for Public Information (API). I wish you a speedy recovery, Nadia.”
The Minister added that, based on information available so far, the alleged attacker is believed to be a relative, though the motive behind the incident has not been established.
“Let us continue to pray for the victims and our country as a whole,” Jackson wrote. “Let peace reign in our hearts and shine out in the way we relate to each other. This is my earnest prayer.”

According to reports, Slater was attacked at her home in Clare Valley on Tuesday morning. An elderly female relative, said to be 72 years old, was also injured during the incident.
Sources indicate that an intruder allegedly entered the home through a bathroom window before attacking Slater. Reports suggest she was choked and beaten before managing to break free. The attacker allegedly then used a gas cylinder to continue the assault.
The elderly relative was also reportedly assaulted and left bloodied during the incident.
Slater is said to have escaped the house and raised an alarm, prompting neighbours to come to her assistance.
Both women were taken to hospital, although their conditions have not been officially confirmed.
Police are continuing investigations into the incident and are understood to have processed the scene on Tuesday. A male suspect has reportedly been identified and is currently in police custody.
The incident has shaken residents in the Clare Valley community in South Leeward, where concerns have been raised over the violent nature of the attack.
Authorities have not yet released further details as investigations continue.
