The Child Development Division within the Ministry of National Mobilization, is observing the annual Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month from April 1st to 30th.

This is in keeping with St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ commitment to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The theme chosen for this year is Don’t let abuse be your Child’s Story. Make a change. End child abuse” with a focus on child neglect and abandonment.

The Division says this theme addresses its goals of informing parents of their tremendous power to prevent child abuse; and to educate and increase awareness in homes, schools, and communities.

To commence the month of activities, the Division will launch the month of activities on Thursday 4th April, at the Foreign Affairs Conference Room, beginning at 10am.

There will be addresses from Minister of National Mobilization – Dr. Orando Brewster; Permanent Secretary – Merissa Finch-Burke; President of the National Association of Early Childhood Educators – Pastor Adrian Messiah and Assistant Commission of Police in charge of crime – Trevor Bailey.
